Birthday Freebie 2: Starbucks

This morning I got up in a grumpy mood.  For some reason the beginnings of the week drag by for me, and then when Wednesday comes they fly by.  Luckily, I knew there was sunshine around the corner, because this little gem arrived in the mail yesterday

I knew it was coming, because Starbucks had built up my anticipation of its arrival by emailing me last week that it was in the mail.  I as excited because I’ve had to cut back on my Starbucks runs ever since I started fieldwork, and I miss that caffeine like woah.

In case you missed it, I’m cashing in on a bunch of Birthday freebies, and sharing them with you.  Yesterday, I visited Panera.

This morning I thought about what I would order the entire ride there.  I have a philosophy that whenever I earn free drinks a Starbucks, I go all out.  And go all out I did indeed, my friends:

Hello lover.
Triple Venti Non-fat Caramel Macchiato.  And yeah, I know there’s no point in getting skim milk if I’m sugaring it up with caramel syrup, I just can’t stand the taste of anything more than skim milk.

To get a free Starbucks drink on your birthday, you just have to register a Starbucks (gift) card, at starbucks.com.  If you visit Starbucks at all, this is completely worth it, as I now get free syrup on all my drinks, free soy milk if you want it, and you get to earn free drinks.  win win win.

sweet deal: the day CVS paid me $6 for zyrtec

I rarely ever use the “extra bucks”/”coupon bucks” reward programs at CVS/Walgreens etc.  Frankly, I think they are pretty trickster and just an incentive for you to keep spending moola in their store.  I tried the whole shabang once, and defiantly think that I still ended up paying more for stuff than I would otherwise (I have NEVER seen a fabulous sale at one of them).

But still, I glance at the ads every week or so just to see.  This week, I happened to see that they were having a “carebucks” deal at CVS on a Zyrtec 5-pack.  Consequently, a few weeks ago, I received a coupon for a free 5 pack of Zyrtec in teh mail.  (I had signed up for it online and got it in the mail a few weeks later!).  So here is how I made my moola.

1.  I saw in the CVS Ad that there was a deal that if you buy a Zyrtec 5-pack, you get $5.99 back in extrabucks.  ( I think it was on sale for 6.99).

2.  I popped in, saw that they were still in stock, and took the 5-pack and the coupon to the register.

3.  Whenever I use a “freebie” coupon (which I usually use at the grocery store), there always has to be something imput into the computer as to what the price is.  This happened here, and the woman tried to convince me I had to buy a larger pack.  I politely pointed out to her the correct wording until she finally scanned it correctly.  So my bill was $0.

4.  Make sure you use your CVS card (I always just use my phone number), and wait for the goodies to appear!

5.  You should then print out the extrabucks deal (here $5.99).  Essentially now, I have a free $6 to spend at CVS.  I will try to get somethings free, but honestly, if I don’t use it because I don’t like CVS’ prices, I don’t be too sad, it’s free baby!!

So there it is, simple and quick.  Keep the deals coming!

A week of freebies

This Friday is my birthday (woot woot!) and I am excited, whether or not I celebrated big.  26 was a big year for me (I got engaged!  Got my dream internship!  Quit my regular job!)  and 27 looks to be even more exciting!!  (Get married?  Become an official school psychologist!)

To make this week even more fabulous, due to my addiction to deals and coupons, my inbox has already been flooded with a variety of freebies and deals to celebrate the day of my birth.  I will be sharing them daily here, starting with my first breakfast this am.
I have been a big fan of the Panera card as they loaded me up with a variety of free smoothies and bagels at the beginning of the year.  I haven’t been getting as many sweet deals lately (do they expect me to earn them or something?), so I was psyched when they rewarded me with a freebie for the b-day.  I cashed it in this morning and got myself a pecan roll:
I am now fully sugared up and am ready to take on a day of middle schoolers!
Have a fabulous day!
(P.S. You can get your birthday surprise too by signing up for the Panera card.  Like I said, when I used to visit on a daily basis, it was completely worth it as I would get something free like every week…sweet deal!)

“To thyne own self be true”

One thing I am passionate about is psychology.  In fact, I am more a dork about it than passionate, but I guess those two can be inter-changable.  I am trying this out for food for thought.  Let me know what you think!
I have this issue, at times.  I can be envious of  everybody.  When I meet someone with an accent, you see, British, Texan or Long Island, I immediately have to think and stop myself from adapting that accent.  I want to beee them.  I do the same thing when I start spending lots of time with people too.  Do you say the word “totally” a lot?  If I spend a couple days with your, chances are, I will steal it from you.
It’s one thing to have self-esteem, and like who you are.  But it’s even harder to figure out who you are!  I know this from personal experience, because at the age of 26, I am still on this journey.  I still don’t know for sure what kind of person I am, how I will react to certain situations, and who really “I” am.  Am I the only one?
In high school, and throughout college, I was on a mission to create a sense of self.  Maybe that’s why I ended up trying to steal other peoples!  Since then, I have realized that figuring out who I am is a journey, and I really need to enjoy it rather than stressing about it. Here is what I think are important things to being one’s own self.
Be unique:  You are fabulous, and you are so, because you are you!  The people that others envy are those who are special and unique, because of the characteristics they have.  Make a list of all of the things you are good at, unique at, and love.  No one else is the same and that is special!
Try everything:  There is no other way to find out who you are than to try it.  How do doctors know they want to be doctors?  How do I know I love hiking, or living at the beach, unless I travel there?  Doing new things is scary, but it will be worth it in the end.
Go with what you are passionate about:  I sincerely believe the saying “if you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life”.  Do what you are passionate about, because you can!  Even if you can’t do it for a living, run everyday, or volunteer to help animals.  Doing what you love makes you innately happy, and that will translate to other parts of your life.
Enjoy yourself:  I am super bad at this, but positivity contagious, and goes a long way!   Leave positive notes for yourself, dance in the morning when you get up, or laugh once a day, it will make a difference.
Why do you love who you are?  I laugh at my own jokes, cook like a supersta’, and dance like a crazy person.

Finger Licking Good Fig

I am not awake EVER lately.  What is up with that?  Is someone secretly switching my caffeinated coffee with decaf (worst fear, folks).

Last night I had a super relaxing night of no work and no grad school.  It.  was.  amazing.  Of course, I passed out on the couch and woke up in the middle of the night panicking, but the rest was well worth it.

I haven’t done too much cooking (okay, any), since I have been eating at the restaurant almost everyday.  And tonight, we are headed out to dinner, so I’ll be laying low in the kitchen anyways.  I’ve been trying to cook as much as possible, but not being home during dinner time is just putting a damper on things.

This weekend, I did find a yummy treat through, at none other than Whole Foods.  I love WF, and could (and have) spent hours browsing the food isles.  As much as I love junk food, I get grossed out sometimes with anything that has food additives, or chemicals, so I really appreciate WF for it’s natural ingredients and freshness.  I was browsing the cheese section, when one of the workers introduced me to this yummy gem:

I didn’t even know I liked figs, but I ate an entire jar of this.  This stuff is GOOD!  You only need a teeny tiny bit of spread on a cracker, and if you really want someone to fall in love with you, have it with brie cheese.  But I’m warning you, don’t get too much, because you won’t be able to stop eating it.

This goes on my list with avocado and mozzarella cheese as things that I will lick off a plate to get every last bit.

On with the day.  I have big plans for the rest of the day, including interning, class, and then trying to soak up as much sun as is possible after 4pm.  If only I could lounge all day like this cool pup:

chilling like a villain the backyard

“cool it with the glasses mom, it’s not happening”

The restaurant we are going to tonight has the best lobster bisque ever and I cannot wait to stuff a spoon in my mouth, and then eat as much as possible, of Ryan’s too.  🙂

Bad Blogger!

I am so bad at blogging.  (obviously)  I enjoy writing, I really do, but when I get busy, I am so bad with keeping up with it.  I started a new job that allows me to eat dinner at home only about 2 nights a week.  It’s perfect for my schedule, and I’m really enjoying it (plus, it’s saving moola), but boy do I miss cooking!!

On those days where I do come home for dinner, the days seem too nice not to hang out outside, and we end up just grilling or cooking by the fire!  A glass of wine and a firepit is probably one of my favorite relaxation techniques.  So, instead of cooking in the kitchen, our little family has been doing much more of this:

and this (marshmallow mashed potatoes anyone?)
Which is pretty fine with me.

the royal cake

Did you see the royal wedding cake?

I was in awe of kate’s dress, but #2 on my “must see” list from the wedding was the cake!

LaTimes

Since I’ve been all about weddings lately, and I love food, you know I was all about the wedding cake.  I don’t know if I’m more impressed with the overall design of the cake, or the fact that there is a fruitcake under there!  Royal fruitcakes must taste much better than the ones I have had, because I haven’t tasted a yummy one yet!
